 Currie is originally from Philadelphia, but headed south to North Carolina and never looked back. She received her BA in Theatre Costuming from UNC-Greensboro in 1983, spent a few years working locally, then headed out to work for Ballet Mississippi in Jackson in the winter and for Seaside Music Theatre in Daytona Beach, FL in the summer. She arrived at Florida State University in 1988, discovered how wonderful students are, and stayed.
